PeopleThe leaders of the three armies in the battles caused by the Norman conquest of England greatly affected the battles outcome. Edward, the king of England before the conquest, can be blamed for the invasion because of his shaky reign. William the Conqueror can be attributed for the successful conquest because of his superior army. Harold Godwinson had a short reign as King, but was the last Anglo-Saxon king of England, and led the resistance against the Normans. Harald Hardrada was the leader of the Vikings who also invaded England in 1066. He diverted Harold's troops and made the Norman's conquest even easier. Ultimately, the kings involved in the battles of 1066, changed England forever.
